A new country, a new culture, a new language, new people and a new course: all at the same time can be overwhelming!

Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with our Buddy Program!

The second year students of psychology took the initiative of reaching out to the newcomers of the same course with the purpose of making their adaptation process a fluent one, both in academic and extracurricular aspects. A total of nine volunteers offered their time and attention to help the new students clear their doubts regarding faculty administration, course enrollment, public transportation, phone companies and further concerns they encountered when moving to Madrid to pursue their futures as psychologists.

The aim of the Buddy Program is to create an enriching environment in which the desire of learning and growing simultaneously creates a sense of community amongst the students. Projects, workshops and other activities are yet to come to help reaching such goal, but the students are heading in the right direction.

Psychology week would be the first at UEM, and would be a collaboration amongst other universities with the aim to raise an awareness towards mental illness, promote mental health and combat its stigma.

In order to achieve this goal, we would need volunteers amongst the students of psychology that are currently in clinical stays, and with the help of our professors, volunteers of professionals working in different fields of psychology.

We strongly encourage psychology students to participate in these types of group activities and to cooperate with different classes and courses. Not only amongst other psychology students, but also with other degrees such as medicine, nursing and pharmacy, to mention a few. This will help consolidate a multidiciplinary week.
